• Service Maintenance Technician - Ground Support Equipment

    Pilot John International (PJi) (pilotjohn.com), a Carolina GSE Company, seeks an experienced Service Maintenance Technician - Ground Support Equipment for our New Bern, NC facility to support our mission of providing exceptional customer service through the service and repair of a variety of aviation ground support equipment.     Key Job Duties:

    • Previous experience completing repairs and routine maintenance of heavy equipment Ideally, ground support equipment, but this is not required
    • Willingness to assist with warehousing and inventory activities as required
    • Using electrical test equipment such as multimeters and ammeters
    • Following manufacturer test procedures
    • Using a computer and an iPad
    • Working as a team member and individually
    • Using maintenance manuals
    • Organizational skills

    • Evaluating and inspecting equipment
    • Documenting your work
    • Organizational skills
    • Operating box trucks, forklifts, and equipment once certified or trained
    • Ability and willingness to travel if needed

    • Ability to work safely and follow safety rules
    • Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines
    • Ability to work on new equipment without causing scratches or damage
    • Ability to work on equipment at customers' facilities without causing damage and cleaning up after repairs are completed
    • Ability to maintain a clean work environment
    • Using tools and equipment such as basic hand tools, grinders, cut off wheels, jacks and jackstands, impact guns, rivet guns, torque wrenches, saws, and presses
    • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues in diesel, gas, and LP powered equipment
    • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical equipment
    • Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic equipment
    • Ability to diagnose and repair air pressurization equipment
    • Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic jacks
    • Ability to diagnose and repair automotive-style equipment
    • Ability to diagnose and repair small engines (gas and diesel)
    • Be familiar with AC (single and three phase) and DC voltage
    • Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics


    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Ability to work without close supervision
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to read and follow written instructions or guidelines for completing repair tasks
    • Ability to meet deadlines, track materials, and accurately report project time
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Ability to assist with lifting up to 50lbs.
    • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving history
