    Craven County Hospice
    Job Description
    Would you like to volunteer and give back to the community? Craven County Hospice is  a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. We provide hospice services to the Craven County community and surrounding areas. We are looking for responsible members of the community to provide non-medical support services  to patients and their families on a volunteer basis. Volunteers are asked only to perform tasks they are comfortable performing. Examples of these non-medical services are: direct patient care, companionship to the patient and family, friendly conversation, reading to the patient, respite to the family or caregiver, emotional support as a compassionate listener, small household chores, and perform clerical duties in the Craven County Hospice office. 

    Potential volunteers will need to go through a two day training session.Once training is completed, the volunteer must be able and willing to adhere to the Craven County Hospice policies and procedures. The volunteer must respect the home environment of the patient and his or her family and observe confidentiality at all times. Volunteer must be able to cope with difficult situations. Volunteer must be able to perform as a team member, having the ability to work with and relate well with others. Volunteer must be willing to work with a patient and family regardless of race, color, socioeconomic status or creed; respecting their beliefs and philosophy without imposing own personal value systems. Volunteer must be able to listen, report patient and family data, and keep accurate records.
