About Us

ATLANTIC DANCE THEATRE Our goal is to present, support, and enrich dance offerings in the region. From 1985-2008 Atlantic Dance Theatre, a nonprofit organization based in New Bern, NC, presented professional dance and music performances, school programs, and masterclasses in North and South Carolina. In 2018, former board members Elizabeth Pope, Joan Taylor, and Paige Whitley-Bauguess decided to bring ADT's professional dance events back to the community beginning with a March 2019 music and Baroque dance concert ''Belle Danse,” performed at New Bern's Stanly Hall ballroom. This season's offerings include a February 28, 2022 concert ''Bach and Forward'' for area schools streamed by NC School of Math and Sciences, a dance/science integration project as well as public school informal performances as part of our youth initiative, ''Building Young Lives through Dance.'' Elizabeth Pope is serving as Executive Director and Joan V. Taylor as Artistic Director 2021-2022 BOARD OF DIRECTORS include Elisabeth Amend, Collins Beebe, Ashley Baxter Curry, Jody King Cheek, Chuck Dale, Kit Jordan, and Paige Whitley-Bauguess.
