    Habitat for Humanity of Craven County to bring Homebuyer Education and Financial Literacy Courses to Craven County Public
    Proud to partner with Craven Community College and First Flight Federal Credit Union
     
    New Bern, NC, October 15, 2019: Habitat for Humanity of Craven County is proud to announce an upcoming educational series, Homebuyer Education and Financial Literacy, in partnership with Craven Community College and First Flight Federal Credit Union. These courses will be offered for free to the public beginning later this month. The classes will cover topics such as estate planning, home closing process, budgeting, understanding and using credit, financial protections, and home maintenance.
     
    The first class will be held on October 26, 2019 and will run through June 2020. The classes will be held at the old Fireman’s Museum located at 408 Hancock St., New Bern, NC 28560. The classes will begin at 9:30 AM. The full schedule can be viewed at cravencountyhabitat.org. Please call 252-633-9599 and speak with Betsy McDonald, Homeowner Services Coordinator, to register for the workshop series.  Individuals may register for all workshops or individual classes.
     
    The educational series is made possible through a collaborative partnership between Habitat for Humanity of Craven County, Craven Community College, and First Flight Federal Credit Union to serve Craven County residents. Julian Tripp, Regional Sales Executive for First Flight FCU, makes it clear that
    their “focus is to build stronger communities by offering financial literacy education. We hope to create a new generation of savvy homeowners and build generational wealth in communities that are
    undeserved.”
     
    Greg Singleton, Director of Community Workforce Readiness at Craven Community College, stresses that “it is important that we have the right people at the table to ensure proper education to first time home buyers. This partnership between Craven Community College (WFD/HRD), Habitat for Humanity and First Flight Federal Credit Union possess the necessary idea ingredients to provide this level of education to Habitat for Humanity of Craven County first time home buyers.”
     
    Habitat for Humanity of Craven County has built homes, communities, and hope in Craven County since 1989. Habitat for Humanity of Craven County partners with eligible homebuyers to build or improve a place they can call home. In addition to the physical improvement of a living situation, Habitat for Humanity of Craven County provides homebuyer education and financial literacy to prepare first time homebuyers for homeownership and self-sufficiency.
