Kinston Down East Wood Ducks Donate Sports Equipment to Local Youth
Kinston, NC – The Down East Wood Ducks baseball team donated new and used sports equipment to the Lenoir County Unit on June 21. While visiting the Club, the Wood Ducks baseball players played a game of dodgeball with the Club kids.  The Wood Ducks donated items such as baseballs, basketballs, soccer balls, hula hoops and more. President & CEO, Kimberly Boyd, “Our Kids light up when the Wood Ducks players enter the Club. They are superheroes and are great role models as well. We appreciate their generous gifts of time and equipment.”
Many public schools have cut their physical education programs and the obesity rate in youth has reached an alarming high. At Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain, we teach our members to focus on fitness, use leisure time productively, develop skills to manage stress and respect and appreciate the environment. The donated equipment will support sports and fitness programs at the Lenoir County Unit.

The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. There are 17 Clubs throughout Pitt, Beaufort, Lenoir, Martin, Greene, Carteret, and Craven Counties serving approximately 2,000 members daily. Club programs focus on academic success, good character & citizenship, and healthy lifestyles with an over-arching goal of building strong children and communities.
