The Downtown Council (DTC) is committed to creating a vibrant, diverse, and economically-sustainable downtown. The DTC is the primary advocate for the downtown businesses, working in unison with the visitor's bureau in creating a friendly destination for visitors, as well as for people who live in New Bern and the outlying areas. One of the most successful programs the DTC coordinates is a Beary Merry Christmas. This group meets in the Chamber Meeting Room on the 4th Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm and there is no fee to serve on the committee.
The Nonprofit Council is a program of the New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce formed for the purpose of providing an open forum for the area's nonprofit community to network, exchange ideas, and support one another. This Council is organized to promote the sustained vitality, enhancement, and development of the Chamber's nonprofit member civic and community service organizations. The Council provides support to the nonprofit membership community, fosters a cooperative and constructive business environment among its members, provides educational programming and networking opportunities for its members, promotes the exchange of ideas among its members, supports other activities needed to further the business success of its membership, and promotes the sector's positive impact on the Craven County communities. There is no fee to serve on this committee.
