About Us

During the late eighties, Apostle Paul A. Thomas, Victory Christian Fellowship Center (VCFC) in Greenville, NC, had a membership that spread throughout several counties in Eastern North Carolina. P. O. & Barbara Rodgers were members of the church from the New Bern, Craven County area. Apostle Thomas began bible studies in the homes of families in the various cities. One of the hosts for the mid-week Bible Study was P. O. & Barbara Rodgers. The Bible Study held on Thursday evenings at their home on Taylor Street. People attended the Bible Study faithfully. It was not long before the study had outgrown the den in their home. They had more than 15 people in regular attendance. During a major move of the Holy Spirit during the ordination service, P. O. & Barbara were ordained. Pastor Rodgers continued hosting the Vine Life Ministry Bible Study, relocating the meeting place from their home to a larger facility, The J. E. D. Room at 1226 Broad Street in New Bern. Not long after the move, Apostle Thomas blessed the Vine Life Fellowship. Shortly after this, the fellowship received a new name. As an independent ministry, the name given to the church by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit was “Dayspring”. The scripture reference from which the name came is Luke

Dayspring Ministries has continued to move as the Holy Spirit has directed. God continues to be mighty in our midst as His people continue to seek Him. Dayspring . . . through the tender mercy of our God…, (continues)…to give light to those who sit in darkness, under the leadership of Bishop P. O. & Pastor Barbara Rodgers.
